The conference will feature keynote speaker Dr Tom Verghese, an internationally renowned, author, presenter, cross cultural coach, consultant and founder of Cultural Synergies. Join Dr Verghese for an interactive and thought-provoking session on “Diversity and Inclusion: The new normal”. Tom will challenge your thinking and increase your awareness and knowledge of diversity, inclusion, equity and unconscious bias.

Dr. Tom Verghese is an internationally renowned consultant, author, presenter, executive cultural coach, and founder of Cultural Synergies. He has over 25 years of global consulting expertise in the areas of Diversity and Inclusion, Unconscious Bias, and high-performing teams and leaders. With an extensive global client base of Fortune 500 companies from oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, automotive, manufacturing, higher education, entertainment, FMCG, and financial services, he is a well-respected thought leader in the CQ field.
Tom is the author of ‘The Invisible Elephant’ – ‘Exploring Cultural Awareness’ – ’25 Years On – A Collection of 25 Reflections as an Intercultural Management Consultant’ and co-author of ‘The Pillars of Growth – The Keys to Getting Exponential Growth in Your Business Today.’ Dr. Verghese was born and raised in Malaysia. He currently resides in Melbourne.

Mim Bartlett is a highly successful psychotherapist, keynote speaker, facilitator, and executive coach with more than 20 years’ experience delivering leadership and career development programs and coaching that increase executive’s confidence, success, and optimism for clients such as Suncorp, NAB, and Aesop.
Mim Bartlett Consulting works across global markets with Associates in Asia and London. Mim has also spent six years living and working in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore, ensuring her keen appreciation of cultural diversity.
Fluent in Chinese, Mim’s experience working for various multinational companies in law, sales, and marketing ensure her strong foundation to connect with a range of people across various industries.
Mim holds a double Law/Arts degree from Melbourne University, with a Major in Mandarin Chinese language. Mim has worked at King and Wood Mallesons in Melbourne and ABN AMRO (in-house) in Singapore. She also worked in sports marketing and sales/marketing in consumer goods for six years in Hong Kong, Singapore, and China. She is a qualified Gestalt psychotherapist and has Executive Coach and ACT qualifications.
Mim is one of the 2015 winners of the Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards. She is also deeply involved in social justice work as an advocate, fundraiser, and mentor with several, not for profit organizations including the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and the Human Rights Art and Film Festival.
Terry McDonald – President, Appita.

Terry McDonald is currently the President of Appita.
Terry graduated from RMIT as a Chemical Engineer. He began his career in the pharmaceutical industry, working in that sector for 7 years in various roles including as a process operator, process and project engineer. Terry was involved in the design, construction, commissioning and validation of pharmaceutical plants.
Terry joined Visy in 2002, where he started in the Visy Paper Coatings plant, originally as a production manager and then as operations manager.
He then moved to the VP5 recycled paper mill in 2009 and spent 5 years there as the production manager. Terry then moved into the national quality manager role for the paper mills and recently he has also started working with the Visy Beverage Can division also in the area of quality.

Tim Woods is Managing Director of IndustryEdge. Tim has more than 25 years of expertise in the fibre, wood products, and pulp and paper industries. He has a solid background in research, policy, strategy, and project management.
Tim leads IndustryEdge assignments, in conjunction with data analysts, consultants, and associates across the globe.
In a diverse career that includes a period as Chairman of an industry superannuation fund, he has established a wide-ranging, information and data focussed expertise that he applies to client needs. Tim also has experience in the Asia Pacific region, especially in South East Asia.
Jim Henneberry – Professionals Director
“Managing up” to influence organisational direction, performance and culture.
Jim us currently the Chair of Circa Group Ltd and Timberlands Pacific, director of FWPA and a Trustee at Monash APPI. He has served as CEO of Australian Paper, CE at CHH in NZ and numerous other director and management positions with International Paper and other international companies. Jim holds degrees in engineering MBA degrees.

New Speaker Competition
The conference will include the Appita New Speakers competition, with contestants from Australia and New Zealand going head-to-head. We hope our Australian and New Zealand members will join us at the finals, to support our new speakers and see who will be crowned the 2020 New Speaker Competition winner. The winner will receive an educational grant for career development in the pulp & paper industry and a plaque.
